What Does Vegan Makeup Really Mean

Vegan makeup is beauty products that do not directly contain any animal derived ingredients or those that have been tested on animals. Vegan makeup and cruelty-free products are often clubbed together but in reality, there is a lot of difference between the two. Cruelty-free makeup is not tested on animals while creating the brand even though some of their ingredients might have been tested on animals by third parties.

Vegan makeup is referred to those products that do not contain any ingredient that has been derived from animals. These include lanolin, cholesterol, gelatin, beeswax, honey and collagen amongst many others. However, there is a catch here, even though the elements used in vegan products have not been taken from animals, it does not mean that the finished product or that in the semi-finished stage have not been tested on animals. Hence, all vegan products are not necessarily cruelty-free. Some of the top well-known Australian vegan makeup that you can opt for –

  • Inika Vegan and Organic Makeup,
  • Aesop Natural and Cruelty-free Makeup
  • Fitcover range
  • Scout Cosmetics and
  • Grown Alchemist

Cosmetic and beauty products are constantly evolving for the better. There is a growing awareness in the beauty world today about using makeup items that are healthier, natural, non-toxic and vegan as against traditional cosmetics that contain dead animal ingredients like insect extracts, beeswax and uric acid of cows amongst others. To be sure, that you are buying the best from the vegan beauty world, go for makeup that has “Vegan Action” or “The Vegan Society” logo printed on the label.

Makeup and fitness can go hand in hand

Fitness is the key to success in the modern world. The hectic office schedules put a lot of stress on one’s body and mind. So, regular exercise becomes an absolute necessity to cope up with the urban lifestyle. However, if you are a woman, a gym session is not as simple as it sounds. Beginning your day with a healthy workout is one thing. Beginning your day with hair issues, or wearing makeup in the wee hours is a completely different ball game. And the thought of smudged makeup or a mascara meltdown brings along a surge of anxiety.

One easy way out is to go with the bare-faced look along with a simple ponytail. However, if that’s not your cup of tea, there are ways to deal with gym makeup issues. And that’s what we are going to discuss in this article.

Don’t go too heavy with your makeup

The basic principle for wearing makeup to the gym is keeping it to the minimum. If you clam your face with all sorts of beauty products, it won't allow your skin to breathe and you may find your makeup on your towel instead of your face. Opt for products that don't have any oil in the ingredients. It's important to remember that your sweat will lend your face the dewy complexion that you wish for in the most natural way. So, you don't need any extra assistance for that. Keep away from the smoky eye look to avoid looking like a zombie with mascara smeared face. In case you are hell-bent on wearing mascara, opt for a waterproof version of the same.

Use a light foundation

Any lighter formula foundation is the best foundation for gym. Opt for a foundation that gives sufficient coverage, is exceptionally light and is breathable. Go for natural cosmetics since they work better with perspiration and will allow your skin to breathe through pores. A water-based foundation is a great option as it doesn't stop up pores, and it goes on more like a tinted lotion than a cakey foundation. In case you are keen on mineral-based products, apply foundation with light quick strokes to avoid unnecessary gleam.

Go for Lip stain instead of lipstick

Lipsticks and blush are a definite no-no for the gym. For one, you get natural shading from all the exercise, and presumably, needn't bother with it. Besides, you certainly don't want to look overly dramatic. That is the reason a lip stain is ideal when working out to achieve a natural scaled down look.
The main challenge of exercising while wearing cosmetics is that it, more often than not, leads to skin break out. Since perspiration blended with cosmetics can seal the pores in your skin, it is advisable to pick gym friendly beauty products that keep your makeup intact even during a rigorous workout.
